My husband and I, along with five other couples, went to dinner at Patrizio Osteria last night. We arrived close to 6:30pm, and ordered a drink at the bar while we waited. The service at the bar was quick. I had the Patrizio Bellini, which was very good. The decor is simple yet elegant. Unfortunately, the acoustics were not good and we had to shout at each other to be heard.
We didn’t have to wait long to be seated, between fifteen and twenty minutes, but other couples in our party had arrived before us and put our name on the list. We were seated in the downstairs dining area, at a long table between the kitchen and the bar. We received our menus, and drink orders were taken within minutes. Unfortunately, that is when things slowed waaaayyy down. We waited about thirty minutes before our food orders were taken, and then about another thirty minutes to get our food.
I ordered the Chicken Caesar Salad with Polenta Croutons, and was pleased with my dish, although not the length of time it took to get it. The polenta croutons were delightfully lite with just a hint of crisp on the outside. The Chicken Caesar Salad was perfectly dressed, and very tasty, with the right amount of romaine hearts. The chicken was roasted and very thinly sliced or shaved, which I prefer to the usual thick slices of grilled chicken you generally find in salads.
After we had finished eating, our plates were cleared away quickly and then we waited…again. It took the waiter about thirty minutes to bring our checks. We spent a total of almost three hours there, and at least half of that time was spent waiting for one thing or another.
My opinion? While the food that I ordered was good, others in my party were not pleased with their dishes. The food was not worth the wait and the prices, and we have no plans to return in the future.
